I'm sitting here, trying to get the goddamn comic done and maintain some kind of normalcy in my life, and go to save it and GODDAMN ILLUSTRATOR CRASHES AGAIN. It's gotta be something with this file, or something, because I tried simply OPENING it and resaving it again as another file, and it crashes instantly. Granted, it's got an image background, but come on - I saved the damn thing BEFORE! Why is it NOW deciding to have issues?!

Had I started on this little adventure earlier in the day, I'd give it another go. As it stands, it's almost 1 AM and I can't deal with this right now. *sigh*

If anyone felt up to it, now would be a REALLY good time for some guest strips. As much as doing the comic keeps me feeling normal, fighting with my computer isn't something I really want to be doing at the moment. So seriously - if you feel up to it, and you have an idea for a guest comic, fire it my way at gregdean@gmail.com and assuming it's not just stick figures or pictures of your dog's poo or something, I'd be happy to put it up. One day of no comic is a bummer. Two days is pushing it. Three days is just insane, and it's under my skin that Friday's comic is still up right now. Thanks for understanding, guys.

Also, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who's sent us a comment in e-mail. It's been hard to read them, because it just brings it back up in our heads, but at the same time, it's helping us cope. You guys are a great bunch of people, and don't ever forget it.

author writes:

Yeah, Zorba is right - if you ignore everything that is wrong with his boat, there is nothing wrong with it. That trick would even work if twice as much was wrong with it, proving once again what a basically sound vessel the Souvlaki Queen is. That’s also why you will find no a single negative safety inspection record filed under her name! (But then, she’s only had that name for about three weeks. And if you were searching for negative safety inspection records under any of the several dozen of other names she’s had before, you’d end up with a veritable Almanac of poor maintenance practices.)

But what’s up with the Professor? Is he really just slowing down mentally in his 11th decade of life, or are the Guns of Toblerone still a reality in this day and age? Check out our next, thrilling episode for the answer! (Or look at the subheader in the title, if you will, but that’s cheating. >_>)

And yes, just like the Guns of Navarone, the Guns of Toblerone are capable to completely block naval access to a neighbouring Island, day and night and under all weather conditions. They’re, like, probably really BIG guns.

Also, this strip marks the re-introduction of Snuka, former Cairo street urchin, later and late adoptive son of Professor Dr. and currently a ghost who has in mysterious ways (with which Mopey apparently still hasn’t made her peace) returned from the Netherlands of the Force. Yeah, he still looks like at the end of the last chapter. Hey, I just redesigned his outfit back then, I’m not about to give him a new one already. =P And he kinda enjoys being a force-ghost, anyway - for a compulsive kleptomaniac like him, it’s not the worst thing to be. He can go through walls in the search of loot, and any bullets, knifes and similar missiles directed at him in response won’t hurt him! It’s like a nightmare come true for everybody but him.

More on Thursday.

Third Interlude, pages 11 and 12 | one new fanart

Those of you not in the Philippines may have heard on the news that the country was hit by a pretty crazy typhoon last Saturday. We're used to typhoons over here, but this one turned out much worse than anyone was expecting. My family and I were lucky and weathered it just fine. But many people right in our city lost most of their belongings, their homes, or even their lives; and other cities and regions were hit much worse. I know things are bad all over, and several other countries were hit with terrible natural disasters recently; but if you're sleeping someplace dry and safe tonight, please spare a moment to think of those who can't. If you want to find out more or are interested in helping out, there are some photos, videos and links collected here and here.

Okay, that's all. We now return you to your irregularly scheduled cheesy fairy tale comic. There are three more pages in this Interlude, and Chapter 5 is going to be another monster-sized one like Chapter 3.

Why Some People Don’t Like Birds

I’ve always thought there was something vaguely sinister about birds. I’m pretty sure this is what it is.
